This holiday season Microsoft has increased it’s install base with a little bit of help from the Kinect. It’s no secret that the Kinect is popular, but video games analyst Michael Pachter believes that nearly 60% of Kinect sales were sold as part of a bundle. No speculation has been made as to how many of these bundles were sold to new customers or repeat Xbox 360 buyers. This comes as the culmination of a near six month run on the competition as Microsoft as outsold it’s competitors for nearly all of 2010....
The Xbox 360 is rumored to be recieving a price cut this summer, after an announcement at this year’s E3. Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter has predicted in an investor’s research note that was prepared today. In the note Pachter claims that the price drop will be announced at the E3 Expo in June, where he thinks that Sony and Nintendo will be forced to follow in the cuts or risk losing marketshare to the company....
Microsoft has reported on its quarterly earnings today and sales for Xbox hardware were actually down compared to the same time last year. Revenue for game sales is more promising. All that Microsoft reported is that Xbox hardware sales were down 17 percent year-over-year. The reason being is that there was a huge slump on the sales of Xbox 360 hardware. They did not give a breakdown on how Xbox One hardware sales were like....
Microsoft is readying a massive update for the Xbox One. This update refines the user interface, and adds more features for the Xbox One party system and friends list. These include new party chat options, new sorting options for friends and favorites, as well as the ability to view recent players. While the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of the new Marvel Ultimate Alliance Remasters were set to launch today across all of the aforementioned platforms, there has apparently been a little problem with the Xbox One versions. As a result, the Xbox One versions will now launch two days after the PlayStation 4 and PC versions, with both games set to launch this Thursday now. The price increase for PlayStation 5 was announced by Sony earlier. And now, Microsoft has confirmed that it has no plans to raise the Xbox Series X|S prices. Called Xperience at Home, you can register for the virtual demo from your home for free. Earlier this year, Microsoft started testing support for Linux GUI apps on Windows 10. The company implemented it through Windows Subsystem for Linux GUI (WSLg) on Insider builds.
