We first met him and his insufferable partner Angela Deem in season 2 and 3 of Before the 90 Days. Though some people didn’t like him initially, people now recognize Angela as the problematic one. For that reason alone, people have started liking him. Part of that ‘liking him’ dialog is that we all agree he deserves better than Angela.
But his way of keeping smooth during her outbursts has won many over. Moreover, many folks said he married for her a green card. But he has proven that is not the case, and he has stayed with her through thick and thin. AKA her before and after her weight loss. Damn, that was a good line. Self high five. But all kidding aside, Michael just reads as a good guy. It’s nice fans have finally noticed.

That is instant Sainthood status. He also handles her really well, at this point. He knows how to calm her down and hear her out. You do tend to see some toxic behavior, but it all seems aimed at him. Yet somehow, he never fully loses his cool with her. People watching admire that quite a bit and are finally giving him some proper credit.
I mean, could you handle Angela Deem? Nah, us either.
