Ever since the Wii U launched back in November 2012, the console has struggled mightily to grab an audience. This has come partially as a result of an almost complete lack of third party support, especially as of late. When the console was first announced it seemed to have the support of developers like Ubisoft, but that relationship has since soured. Due to this, Nintendo has to rely on their slew of first-party games, which luckily are almost all quality titles.
In an interview with Gamespot, Nintendo of America marketing executive Scott Moffitt explained how he felt the Wii U was on the “brink of success.”
The Wii U already saw the removal of the basic edition and a price drop for the Deluxe to $299.99, but many have still been expecting a further price drop if they wanted to have any chance of competing. However, the always personable Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime dismissed this idea last week. Hopefully we can see a Nintendo 3DS type turnaround with Mario Kart 8 already helping to push sales and Super Smash Bros. set to launch later this year.
