Fans of the sci-fi western shoot ’em up Wild Guns Reloaded will soon be able to pre-order a limited edition boxed version, available for both the Switch and PS4. An updated and revamped version of the SNES classic Wild Guns, Wild Guns Reloaded received high praise for its fast-paced gameplay and beautiful retro visuals. Also, it’s just a lot of fun to shoot down waves of rootin’-tootin’ robots.

Wild Guns Reloaded adds a number of new features to the original. In addition to updated visuals, it includes new stages, and the ability to play 4-player co-op. It’s even got two new playable characters: old west OGs Annie and Clint make their return, but you can now also play as a cyborg named Dorris, and a long-haired dachshund named Bullet, who is obviously the best character in the game.

The Limited Edition version contains a nostalgia-inducing user’s manual, while the Collector’s Edition ups the ante with a truly wild set of collectibles.

Sure, there probably aren’t going to be a whole lot of occasions where you’ll need an engraved bullet necklace. And I’m not convinced that CD soundtrack will see a lot of use. But then again: you get a Bullet keychain. So.

Made by developer Natsume, Wild Guns Reloaded was first released on the SNES back in 1994 and has been a lasting influence in the old west gaming genre ever since. With one-hit kills and some truly brutal bosses, the original was a real test of your old-school gaming skills. Wild Guns Reloaded allows you to reduce the frustration with variable difficulty modes, and the ability to have three friends fight alongside you will definitely ease the pain. If you want to give the original a try, though, then Switch owners can play it right now via SNES Online. (I fired it up recently and managed to make it all the way to the second boss, who then promptly kicked me right in the sarsaparilla.)

Pre-orders for Wild Guns Reloaded on Switch and PS4 begin on October 3 on the Strictly Limited website.
