Well, the brand new trailer for Disney’s live-action Aladdin film is finally out — it seems like the consensus is that it looks way better than the teaser made it out to be. The new trailer gave us a much better look into the film’s impressive CGI, the beloved original songs, and Will Smith’s take on the iconic Genie that was originally played by the late Robin Willaims in 1992.
Ever since the announcement of the new Aladdin movie, one of the biggest points of discussion surrounding its production centered around what Smith would do with the character that so many revered. It was never going to be an easy task to take on, but if anyone is up for that challenge, it’s Will Smith. With the release of the new footage, it looks like fans are warming up to the actor’s new portrayal of Genie.
Shortly after the trailer hit the web, Smith posted an extremely touching Instagram photo honoring Williams and the character he made one of Disney’s most memorable to date. In the post, Smith stated, “I know Genies don’t have Feet… But you left some Big Shoes to fill.”

Instead of reveling in the positive response to his performance, Smith decided to shift the attention to the actor who preceded him — a very classy move. This showing of love is just another great note leading up to Aladdin‘s release date.
Aladdin hits theaters on May 24.
