Will Smith is returning to play the Genie in Aladdin 2. This will be the first time the actor will be getting another shot at acting since his Oscar ban. He will be working closely with former cast members who starred in part one.

That night, he stormed to the stage to slap the Awards host, Chris Rock, over a joke in which the comedian mentioned his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia.
Though the actor later apologized, he has maintained a low profile, getting on with his business while avoiding showbiz a little. But good news awaits fans as Will Smith in Aladdin 2 will see their favorite in his genie role. Will Smith in Aladdin 2 will not only be his first 2023 project but the first in almost a year. Reportedly, the 54-year-old is set to reprise his role.
Sources added that it will be a more significant role than his former role in the first Aladdin. Disney’s Aladdin 2 will also feature Mena Massoud (Aladdin) and Naomi Scott, Princess Jasmine, from the first franchise.
The producers are looking away from Smith’s Oscar slap, an anonymous tip maintained that he has worked on himself, and “the consensus is that it will all be very much in the past by the time the movie is released.”
He explained that the idea for another film sounded interesting before tipping fans with a spoiler. According to him, the new Aladdin will not be based on the animated version. It’s going to be a new original story.
