Windbound has been an interesting little hidden gem over the past little while. It hasn’t shown off too much yet, but it continues to be something high in my interests. It’s very reminiscent of Zelda but with a more survival-focused twist. I’m excited to try it, but I wasn’t expecting this today. 5 Lives Studios, the team behind Windbound, have released a gameplay trailer today, showing off much of what you can expect from play. The trailer was released on their various social media and can be watched below.
The trailer mainly shows off the various material gathering and crafting materials you can get. If previous information is anything to go by, this is likely to get consumables for yourself and build up your boat. There are also monsters that Kara will have to take on, which stalk around. You’ll be able to sneak past them if they’re too much to deal with, but you can also battle them head-on and possibly get more resources. It’ll be a bit of a game, and it will be interesting to see how that translates to the gameplay. It all culminates in getting to this massive portal which is likely the endgame of Windbound.
It will be exciting playing through Kara’s journey, and I hope you’re as hyped as I am for the game to release on August 28th. The news doesn’t stop there though, as Windbound also now has pre-orders. They’re available for Xbox One and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those who pre-order will get the Ancestral Attire, Oar, and Knife for use in-game. These cosmetics look pretty nice, so it may be worth your while to pre-order. If information revealed so far is anything to go by, it’s a solid investment.
My opinion isn’t the only one though. We’d love to hear what you think of Windbound and if you’re interested in trying it on release. Otherwise, stay tuned here at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
