Women in the Castle is a WWII drama film that sees Daisy Ridley, Kristin Scott Thomas & Nina Hoss teaming up with award-winning writer-director Jane Anderson.
Adapted from Jessica Shattuck’s 2017 New York Times bestseller, the film is a heartfelt, hopeful story of secrets, survival, and the power of forgiveness set in Germany during and post-WWII. Delving into the journey of three German women as they deal with the impact on their personal life amidst the devastation around them. Anderson, who will adapt and direct Shattuck’s source material, previously adapted Meg Wolitzer’s 2017 breakout and award-winning drama The Wife.
Daisy Ridley, Kristin Scott Thomas & Nina Hoss portray three widows of conspirators involved in an assassination attempt on Hitler with captivating emotionality and expressiveness, as they grapple with the consequences of decisions and actions they cannot undo. Drawn from historical accounts of the period, Shattuck’s main characters – fictional but with familial touches- are set to take people through their story as try to break free of the shackles of their past by finding support in each other.
The film unites the creative team behind The Wife as Anderson teams up with Rosalie Swedlin (The Wife) and Embankment who will be producing.
