Blizzard has been trying to combat the Gold Trade in World of Warcraft for some time, and today they just got a big ally in the fight. Teaming with PayPal to stop sellers from selling “intellectual properties” of Blizzard via the PayPal service. Blizzard urged PayPal to issue a Cease and Desist order to the sellers or risk being unable to use the service any longer. This should curb a large majority of the gold sellers as PayPal is far and away the largest online payment processor.
Perhaps this means I will no longer get the strange whisper messages where people pretend to be engaging you in coverstation before they so conspicuoulsy start mentioning gold and that they know so and so has a great deal. Hooray Blizzard.
