There have been plenty of rumors surrounding the next generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft. The most recent of them point to holiday 2012 as a possible launch window for the Xbox 720, but one analyst begs to differ. Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes that this is just silly. From the business side, Microsoft is still selling plenty of Xbox 360’s which leads Pachter in the belief that the company will release another updated version of the console.
Pachter recently talked to Industry Gamers about these silly rumors and his predictions for Microsoft in 2012.
Recent NPD data has shown that the company has been doing extremely well over the last year with sales of the Xbox 360. Continually topping itself, is there truly a reason for the next generation of consoles to arrive? We’ll have to wait and see, but with sales doing so well, I don’t think anyone in their right mind would expect Microsoft to announce anything that would deter people from buying their current generation offering.
