It feels like its been eons since we last saw any sort of gameplay footage or trailer for Dying Light 2. That game has very clearly gone through development hell, to the point where the last demo likely doesn’t resemble the game much anymore. Not to mention a bunch of people have left the project, leaving it up in the air as to when or if we’ll see Dying Light 2. The team did post not long ago saying that we’d see more in 2021, but those hopes are beginning to shatter. Today, Dying Light 2’s lead writer, Pawel Selinger, has announced that he’s left the project and the team at Techland after 22 years.

He had the following to say through a post on his LinkedIn page:

All we can really hope for now is that either he put in enough work to not require a new lead writer, or they get a new one fast. We’re in the dark as far as that goes though, as it isn’t clear what state Dying Light 2 is in at the time of writing. While it’s a good idea to hope, don’t be too shocked if we hear a release date beyond 2021 at some point later this year. With more news promised to arrive soon though, you at least won’t have to wait long for that.
